Mullakkal Rajarajeswari Temple, one of the most famous temples in Alappuzha, Kerala. The Mullakkal Rajarajeswari Temple, also known as the Mullakkal Bhagavathy Temple, is a revered Hindu shrine located in the center of Alappuzha town. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Rajarajeswari (a form of Goddess Durga), who is worshipped here as the divine mother and protector of the region. Presiding Deity: Sri Rajarajeswari Devi (Durga Parameswari). The idol stands majestically under the open sky (sanctum without a roof), symbolizing the goddess’s all-encompassing power and universal presence. The temple also houses other deities including Lord Krishna, Lord Ayyappa, Lord Ganesha, Nagaraja, and Hanuman.
The temple follows traditional Kerala-style architecture with sloping tiled roofs and wooden carvings. The open-roofed sanctum sanctorum (Sreekovil) is unique and gives the temple a distinct charm.
